As a kid, what did you answer when asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”
Funny enough, I have pretty much always wanted to be an interior designer (minus the one year I wanted to be a fashion designer after watching Project Runway!) I grew up in the same house that my mom grew up in, and my dad was always renovating it throughout the years. It sparked my creativity and admiration for design at a young age.
How would you describe your design philosophy?
My design philosophy centers around creating spaces that are timeless, cozy, and wellness-focused. It’s about more than just aesthetics—it’s about crafting environments that enhance well-being, foster connection, and feel like home. I focus on designing with intention, ensuring that every element serves a purpose while reflecting my clients’ unique stories.
Over time, my philosophy has deepened. Early on, I focused primarily on achieving a beautiful, functional result. While that’s still a cornerstone, I’ve grown to incorporate wellness as a guiding principle. This shift was inspired by my personal journey—embracing non-toxic living, experiencing the impact of mindful spaces, and understanding how our environments influence our health and happiness.
My approach has also become more intuitive. I’ve learned to listen not only to my clients’ preferences but also to the unspoken ways they interact with their spaces. This has allowed me to design more meaningful, harmonious environments that truly support their lifestyles.
Designing is no longer just about the look of a space for me—it’s about how it makes you feel. That evolution has shaped my work into something deeply personal and purposeful.
Tell us a bit about where you live: How long have you been there, and how does your environment shape your creative process?
I live in a charming coastal town in Massachusetts, surrounded by the natural beauty of the South Shore. We’ve been here for a few years now, and it’s become the perfect place to raise our family and fuel my creativity.
The environment here plays a huge role in shaping my creative process. The ocean, the ever-changing light, and the textures of nature inspire the timeless and cozy elements I bring into my designs. Living in a town with so much history also fuels my obsession with vintage furniture.
The slower pace of coastal living helps me stay grounded and focused on crafting designs that promote well-being. Whether it’s a morning walk by the beach with my dog, or an afternoon horseback riding, my surroundings constantly remind me of the beauty in simplicity and balance, which I carry into my work.
Which of your projects or products are you most proud of? Why?
It’s so hard to pick just one! I have so many favorites for so many reasons. Each project is different from the rest and is designed specifically for our clients who live in them.
What are you currently working on?
We have lots of exciting projects in the works! From a modern Cape Cod treehouse style home to a Connecticut horse farm, a local retail shop all the way to a Seattle renovation, there are lots of fun projects we are working on. We also have some fun things in store for our vintage shop, the Lawless Design Shoppe.
What’s on the horizon for you? Any upcoming projects, events, or goals you’re particularly looking forward to?
I’m having fun curating the next round of introductions into the Shoppe! All of our furniture is vintage, and then we mix in some decor from small businesses that we love.
And just curious: What is your favorite movie? And your favorite band and/or song?
I’ve been a Swiftie since Debut! I remember painting on my bedroom floor during late nights in high school, crafting my portfolio to get into design school. I specifically had Fearless “The Way I Loved You” on repeat. I actually create project playlists for each one of our projects. They are a curation of songs that fit the overall project vibe. At the end of the project photography, we create custom vinyls for our clients.
